Who is eligible for the Pensioner Excursion Ticket (PET)?
Pensioner Excursion Tickets are available to people holding Centrelink pensioner concession cards, NSW Seniors Cards or NSW or Victorian War Widow/er concession cards.
How much?
The new flat fare Pensioner Excursion Ticket costs $2.50 and is for all day travel on:
Certain services are excluded: Sydney Explorer Bus, Bondi Explorer Bus, Special Event buses, Manly JetCat and Sydney Ferries Harboursight cruises. A station access fee also applies when using any of the Airport Line stations Green Square, Mascot, Domestic or International.
Where can I buy a PET?
You can purchase a Pensioner Excursion ticket at any time of the day from any of our friendly Shorelink drivers. Tickets are also available from both private and state buses, at CityRail stations and Sydney and Newcastle ferry ticket offices. Tickets are valid for travel up to 4.00am the following morning.
Please have exact fare ready
Shorelink drivers cannot change large notes, so please be sure to have the fare ready in coins or small notes where possible. This will help to reduce boarding delays and help you get to your destination quickly. Fare scales are displayed at the front of the bus.
Children
Children under the age of 5 travel free when accompanied by an adult. Children aged 15 years and over and attending High School or Secondary College are eligible for concession fare for travel outside school hours, upon presentation to the driver of an appropriate photo ID issued by the school or college or their bus pass. If a valid ID is not available, children aged 15 years and over are required to pay the standard adult fare unless travelling to and from school in school hours. Where age may be in doubt, proof of age is the responsibility of the child or an adult fare will be charged.
Concession Fares
Concession fare authority cards must always be shown to the driver or a full fare may be charged. Shorelink accepts a variety of transport concession authority cards issued by NSW State Government agencies and the Commonwealth Government through Centrelink. Sorry, we cannot accept Health Care Cards as a transport concession, nor can we accept cards issued for exclusive travel on State Transit buses and ferries in Sydney and Newcastle.
Tickets
Tickets are issued for all fares paid. Please retain tickets until the end of your journey. An inspector may board a bus at any time to check tickets. When boarding the bus always advise the driver of your final destination. Where possible please tender close to the correct fare. This will help to speed your journey. Drivers may be unable to change larger denomination notes.
