Removing Graffiti from Houses & Property

Cleaning Products and Methods to Remove Graffiti

Has a piece of property that you own been plagued by graffiti? Are you unsure of how to be rid of it? Graffiti, by definition, is an illicit drawing or phrase sprayed or scribbled on a surface among the public. Getting these surfaces clean may seem like a daunting task, but rest assured, it can be done. In this article, we will discuss a variety of different products and methods that can help you to remove graffiti.

Before you jump right into getting rid of graffiti, it’s important to make a checklist of items in your arsenal that can help you to not only remove graffiti effectively, but safely. One item that you will want to have with you is some form of cleaner or solvent. There are quite a few of each on the market today for the purpose of removing graffiti. However, when it comes to these products, it is important to follow the directions closely and be safe when using them.

One thing to keep in mind when you are using a solvent or a cleaner for removing graffiti is to always wear a respirator, or if this is not possible, a mask. Breathing in the chemicals from these products is not safe, or recommended. Also, be sure to be familiar with the product you are using and be aware of any accidental injuries that could occur. Safety glasses should be worn at all times when using a cleaner or solvent for the purpose of graffiti removal.

When using your tork cleaning products on a surface that is considered smooth, like a posted sign, first be sure to test your cleaner on a small section of the item to be cleaned. It’s a good idea to go over the surface with soap and water first to get it as clean as possible before breaking out the heavy duty solvent. On surfaces that are rougher, and therefore slightly more difficult to clean the graffiti from, you may have to use a different approach. In a lot of instances, paint that is applied to a rough surface creates permanent damage. Especially if the area that has been vandalized is porous, you may find that painting over the entire wall is your only way to salvage the surface.

One method of cleaning graffiti off of a porous or rough surface that not only can prove effective, but not work to further hasten the demise of the wall, is to use a pressure washer in conjunction with an emulsifier that is bio-degradable. In many instances, this will prove to remove most of the graffiti, if not all. However, sometimes you may see a slight hazy reminder that graffiti was once there if the surface cannot be washed too intensely.

The key to remove all the graffiti is finding the right high quality cleaning product which will actually work. Graffiti is something that none of us want to be plagued with. But if you have suffered from vandalism, rest assured that you don’t have to sit back and live with it. Use the tips found in this article, and you’ll be well prepared for meeting graffiti head on.
